About Berend

Berend is a passionate and optimistic marine engineer dedicated to driving the maritime industry towards a low-emission future. With a strong technical foundation in marine engineering from TU Delft, he started researching renewable power systems at Damen. Motivated by this topic, he immersed himself in a 4-year PhD research on the integration of fuel cells in marine applications, as part of a major European research project called Nautilus. There, he learned to do high quality fundamental research and translate it to the real-world ship applications. He joined Feadship in 2024 where he is responsible for the research and innovation on the energy storage and power generation system.
